Study of neurodegeneration and aging on model organisms
Finding the appropriate functioning medication against parasites and bacteria is a constant struggle against evolution. Having sufficient alternative options that are both safe and effective is key to successfully battling these maladies. Thus it falls to us to screen as many chemical compounds for their potential toxicity in cells, multicellular organisms, such as nematodes or tardigrades, and discern their possible medical or veterinary applications. By using our cutting edge technologies present at IMTM, along with high through-put analysis using convolutional neural networks, we are able to screen compounds for their properties.
About me
Researcher and Ph.D. student at the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine specialized in experimental biology and chemical screening. During my studies I have conducted research in many fields including neurodegeneration in Friedrich ataxia cell lines, screening for nematicide activity of compounds in C. elegans and related parasites and Tardigrade cultivation and transcriptomics studies. My studies will hopefully lead to discovery of safe novel drugs with nematicide properties and to furthering the understanding behind tardigrade resilience.
