Czech President's state visit to Switzerland focuses on biotechnology and pharmaceuticals

As part of an official state visit to Switzerland, Czech President Petr Pavel was accompanied by a business delegation consisting of representatives from Czech companies, clusters, and research organizations. The delegation aimed to deepen cooperation between the Czech Republic and Switzerland in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, strengthen trade relations, and foster innovation and research. IMTM's director Marián Hajdúch represented the institute and research infrastructure during the visit.

The group visited the Biozentrum at the University of Basel, where they explored the latest trends in science and research. A visit to Roche, the world’s largest biotechnology company, provided insights into the modern biotech and pharmaceutical industry and opportunities for collaboration in the development of new medicines.

Engagements with Czech experts working at ETH Zurich and other Swiss institutions proved inspiring, generating numerous ideas for future joint projects. The delegation also met with President Pavel at the Czech Embassy in Bern, where discussions centered on supporting Czech science, biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical sector.
